STORIES OF HOPE
My husband, son, and I had recently relocated to Avon Park. During our first year, my husband lost his good paying job and I was unable to work because I was taking caring of my sick parents. All of our bills became past due, we were evicted from our apartment, and forced to live in our minivan. Fortunately, I found out about Hope Haven through a friend so I met with Leslie and she allowed us to move in. My family and I lived at Hope Haven for 6 months so my husband and I could find employment and save up enough money for another apartment.
I am a single mother of two kids. We were living in our car in the Walmart parking lot when we heard about Hope Haven. We were lucky enough to be able to move in. It was the first time in a long time that I was able to relax, feed my children, and feel safe. After 30 days Leslie helped me find a mobile home for us to move in to. I don't know where I would be if it wasn't for Hope Haven and Leslie. Leslie even went out of her way to bring us food on our first night in our new home.
My son and I had to move out of our house due to domestic violence issues. Fortunately, I was employed full time but I still did not have enough money to immediately pay the deposits for a new place. I was fortunate enough to learn about Hope Haven and quickly be approved to move into one of the available spaces. I was able to save enough deposit money so my son and I were able to move to a nice, safe rental house.
